Fort Hays State Women’s Soccer looks to keep its season alive when it plays Central Missouri in the MIAA Tournament Semifinals on Friday (Nov. 6). The match is set to begin at 4 pm in Warrensburg, the site for the remainder of the tournament.

The Tigers are looking to upset the Jennies for a second time this season. FHSU defeated a No. 1 nationally ranked UCM team earlier this season in Hays by a score of 2-1. The Jennies are now ranked No. 9 in the nation. UCM is the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, while the Tigers are the No. 4 seed.

Fort Hays State has now made three conference tournament appearances in the program’s five-year existence. FHSU has won its opening round game and made the semifinals in each of the years it qualified for the tournament. Last year, the Tigers reached the semifinals as the No. 3 seed, but fell to a No. 2 seeded Southwest Baptist team. In 2012, Fort Hays State tore through the tournament as the No. 6 seed, defeating No. 3 seed Truman on the road, then No. 2 seed Central Oklahoma and No. 1 seed Central Missouri in Warrensburg to automatically claim their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. FHSU is looking to do the same this year as anything short of the tournament championship will end the season.

Fort Hays State knocked off No. 5 seed Southwest Baptist in the opening round of the tournament this past Wednesday by a score of 2-1 in Hays. Central Missouri claimed a 2-1 win over No. 8 seed Washburn in the opening round.
