Perkins in Contention After First Round 72 at UCO Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Hannah Perkins is in contention for medalist honors at the UCO Classic being held October 5-6 at the Lincoln Park East Golf Course. Perkins shot the lowest round of the year so far by a Tiger, a 1-over par 72 on the par-71 layout. She heads a Tiger team that sits in 13th after the first day of the tournament.

Perkins is just two shots off the lead held by Marla Souvannasing of Central Oklahoma, who shot an opening round 1-under par 70. Four players finished at even par, then Perkins is one of eight players tied for sixth at 1-over.

Arkansas Tech leads as a team after a 289 as a team. The top three golfers for Arkansas Tech are all tied with Perkins individually, while their fourth scorer is just one stroke back after a 73. Northeastern State is three strokes back and has two golfers tied with Perkins, while Central Oklahoma is four back and their second-best golfer is also tied amongst the pack at 72. FHSU shot 334 as a team on Monday.

Quillen Eichhorn carded 84, while Hannah Karasiuk and Hadley Tharp each shot 89 to round out the scoring for FHSU. Lexie Schaben shot 91.

The final round of the tournament concludes on today.
