FHSU Media Students produce commercial promos for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA)

Hays, Ks – FHSU’s Media Studies Program of Excellence and the Tiger Media Network are excited to announce they will be producing a series of commercials for the MIAA. The creative for these commercials will promote the 2015 MIAA Kansas City Basketball Tournament. The FHSU student lead production team will be headed by two Media Studies Program of Excellence student producers Informatics undergrad Ken Moreno and graduate masters candidate in digital cinema Tyler Parks.

More exciting news from the 2015 MIAA tournament for FHSU students. FHSU students will have a much larger hand than in any other year. This student team from media studies and co produced with Tiger Media Network student staff will include. Directors, producers,camera operators, graphic designers, reporters and on camera talent. The majority of these students coming from the Informatics program of excellence media studies program, but including a handful of students from computer science, political science and graphic design. The student production team is a terrific mix of both undergraduate and masters candidates.

The TMN Executives met with MIAA and PITT State in Kansas City last week to work the details. The media program faculty heads agreed to co-produce the tournament. With FHSU being able to apply a full staff to the 14 game event. This marking a milestone moment for FHSU students being able to have a heavier hand in the production of the tournament production for the first time in more than a decade. The MIAA tournament has a viewership reach of more than 2.5 million homes each year for the MIAA. An exciting real life production opportunity for the students of FHSU.

With media studies faculty now the executive producers of Tiger Media Network. TMN is actively recruiting campus wide and hiring student reporters, on camera talent and production staff, including, student producers, directors, camera operators, lighting designers, sound engineers, production managers, etc, for a heavy load of major productions both local, regional and soon to be nationally distributed programs in news, sports, new media, radio, and print. Many of these are paid positions for students. All are acting as a launching pad for students to work on  real world productions on a regional and national level.

It doesn’t matter how bumpy the road was to get here. This is a new chapter, 1 that comes with conference, bragging rights, and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. At this point, it’s all about who wants it more.
