Local business burglarized

Early Tuesday morning White Chocolate, 810 Main, Hays was burglarized. White Chocolate is known for selling skateboards and name brand clothing and shoes.

During the break in, clothes, shoes, skateboard merchandise and a cash register were stolen costing the business over $1,200 in losses, according to store manager Derek Hadley.

“I found out about the break in from my mom, she works on the same block as us and she was walking to work and found the top of a cash register and recognized it from the stickers we put on it, after that she called me and I headed down to the store to find out that we had been robbed,” Hadley said.

“I think the break in won’t effect us too much, but Derek has been handwriting tickets and giving change out of a box, but I don’t think it will affect people still coming into the store,” said Rod Smith, White Chocolate owner.

“I think we were able to get back to business so quickly was because we don’t have a computer system, all I had to do was go in the back and find some old White Chocolate tickets and start writing out receipts,” Hadley said.

If anyone has any information about the burglary they are asked to contact Hays Police Department at (785)625-1011.

TMN will follow the story as it develops.
