MEDIA STUDENTS WIN AWARDS

HAYS, Kan. — At the yearly Kansas Association of Broadcasters Student Seminar in Salina on the April 1, Fort Hays State University students in media studies, no fooling, received awards for their work.

C.D. DeSalvo, Garden City junior, received first in the “Sports Play-By-Play” category for his commentary on Washburn University vs. FHSU basketball game on Feb. 1.

Ken Moreno, Pikeville, N.C., senior, also received first place in his category, “Station Promotion Announcement.” With the help of the Tiger Media Network, he created the “Tiger Media Network: The Musical” which features an original song, the FHSU cheer squad, and FHSU mascot Victor E. Tiger.

Stephen Anderson, Kansas City junior, placed second in the “Complete Taped Newscast” category. His entry was a September episode of “The Daily Chatter,” a newscast available for on-demand listening on the Tiger Media Network website at http://tigermedianet.com.

Steavon Rochelle, Calhan, Colo., senior, received an honorable mention for “Dr. Edward Hammond Retirement” in the “Enterprise News Package” category. The piece is available for on-demand viewing on the TMN website.
