Women’s Basketball Wraps Up Regular Season Against SBU

HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team will wrap up the regular season Thursday evening (Feb. 23) against Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. First tip with the Bearcats is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Meyer Sports Center.

The Tigers head into the finale 20-7 overall and 11-7 in the MIAA, while SBU sits at 15-11 this season and 7-10 in league play. The Tigers are currently sixth in the conference standings and can finish either fifth or sixth in the final standings. The Bearcats sit in eighth and can still finish as low as 11th.

Fort Hays State leads the all-time series with SBU 11-7, but the Bearcats hold a 6-2 advantage in games played in Bolivar. The Tigers have won eight of the last nine contests, with the lone loss knocking FHSU out of the top ranking in the country last season. Fort Hays State is 10-4 against the Bearcats under Hobson, with all four losses coming on the road (2-4).

The Tigers defeated Southwest Baptist at home in the first meeting this season, 88-63.

Jill Faxon remains the teams’ leading scorer, averaging 11.1 points per game. Three other Tigers average nine or more points per contest. Tatyana Legette has averaged a double-double over the last five games and ranks sixth in the league with 7.7 rebounds per game.

Two Bearcats average in double-figures in scoring, led by Megan Rosenbohm dropping in 16.8 points per contest. Caylee Richardson puts up 11.5 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. SBU leads the conference in shooting percentage, hitting 46.4 percent from the floor this season.
