Tiger Men Coast to 92-63 Win Over Sterling

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State coasted past Sterling College 92-63 on Saturday evening (Nov. 26) to move to 4-2 overall. Rob Davis led the way for the Tigers with 25 points.

The Tigers were efficient shooting the ball at 61.1 percent overall (33-of-54). They drained 11 3-point field goals, led by four from Davis. FHSU was 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) beyond the 3-point line. Davis finished the game 8-of-11 from the field, including a 4-of-6 effort beyond the arc and a 5-of-6 effort at the free-throw line. JaQuan Smith and Lake Reed each added 12 points. Hadley Gillum led the Tigers in rebounds with eight and Aaron Nicholson dished out a team-best six assists.

Fort Hays State never trailed in the game. The Tigers reached a lead of 15 four times in the first half before leading by 14 at the break, 44-30. FHSU led the entire second half by double figures and the lead grew as large as 30 points with 1:33 to go before settling on the final margin of 29.

Josiah Ray was the only Sterling player to score in double figures with 12 points. Sterling shot 41.1 percent from the field and hit nine 3-point field goals.

The Tigers open MIAA play at Missouri Southern on Thursday night (Dec. 1) in Joplin, Mo. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
