The FHSU women went into the final week of play before the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 2 in the Central Region. The Tigers had a tough week playing two regionally ranked opponents in Missouri Western and Central Oklahoma. The Tigers officially tied Missouri Western, even with advancing on penalty kicks in the conference tournament, but then fell to Central Oklahoma in the semifinals.

Minot State, the No. 3 ranked team in the region, went 1-1 last week with a win in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament before falling to Augustana, a team not in the regional rankings, in the semifinals. Minnesota State, the No. 4 ranked team, may have helped its stock tremendously by winning the NSIC Tournament and going 3-0 for the week. The question on Monday evening will be which team between FHSU, Minot State, and Minnesota State receives the No. 2 seed and the right to host opening round and second round tournament games this weekend. Central Missouri, Minnesota State, and Harding have automatic bids into the tournament from winning conference tournaments. FHSU looks to be one of three teams to receive an at-large bid.

The FHSU men also went into the final week of play before the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 2 in the Central Region. Lindenwood was No. 1 for all three weeks the rankings were released. But with Fort Hays State defeating Lindenwood in the final regular season game this past Sunday, the Tigers make the decision for which team gets the No. 1 seed in the Central Region more difficult. FHSU and Lindenwood finished 1-1 against each other this season and both teams have 13 wins. The No. 1 seed will likely be the Super Regional host in two weeks with it being the Central Region’s turn to host this year in conjunction with the Midwest Region.
