FHSU Volleyball Sweeps Last Home Games

HAYS, KS- The Tigers played their last series games this past weekend against Southwest Baptist and Missouri Southern on Senior Day. Five seniors contributed to the win against Missouri Southern on Sunday including Megan Anderson, Chelsea Payne, Rebekah Spainhour, Hannah Wagy, and Crystal Whitten. The Tigers now are 22-7 overall and 8-6 in the MIAA.

It was a bittersweet day for the senior class as they played their last home game of the season. Each senior got announced with their contributions to the volleyball program the last 2, 3, or 4 years and presented with flowers and gifts from the coaches, teammates, and family.

Whitten led the team with 16 kills, Spainhour contributed with 11 kills and added 2 aces. Anderson added nine kills and one solo block and Payne recorded four digs, two service aces, and one assist. Wagy contributed 34 assists and nine digs in the match.

The Tigers are ranked 5th in the MIAA standing, moving up two spots from 7th last week. The top 8 teams will advance to the MIAA first round tournament on November 15, 2016.

With four matches left in the regular season, the Tigers have an opportunity to host the first round of the MIAA tournament on November 15.

Fort Hays State will travel to St. Joseph on Friday, November 4 and play Missouri Western.
