Men’s Cross Country Places Fourth at MIAA Championships

ELSAH, Ill. – The Fort Hays State men’s cross country team finished fourth at the MIAA Cross Country Championships Saturday morning (Oct. 22). Lindenwood University hosted the event at Principia College’s North Farm Course. Troy Wineinger earned All-MIAA accolades after finishing in ninth, completing the eight-kilometer course in 25:15.45.

The Tigers collected 132 points on the day, 18 behind third-place Pittsburg State. Jacob Thomas ran the course in 25:47.87, good for 24th place. Feysel Rahmeto (25:59.35) and Layton Werth (26:01.75) finished back-to-back in 30th and 31st, respectively. Oscar Carmona rounded out the scoring for the Tigers in 38th, traversing the course in 26:07.04.

Missouri Southern captured the team title with 42 points after Vincent Kiprop captured his second-straight individual title, running in 24:17.98. In total 92 runners took part in the race.

The Tigers will return to the course in two weeks when they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the NCAA Central Region Championships on Saturday, November 5, hosted by Augustana University.
