For TMN, I am Shannon Mahon.

On October 9th, Fort Larned hosted an event called the Candle Light Tour. The volunteers gave a tour of the Fort all lit up by lanterns, in honor of celebrating the dead.  Volunteers performed skits while the visitors pretended to be ghosts by watching and not making any sound. They demonstrated civilian and soldier life.  Details of the scenes were pulled from the actual records, letters, and diaries that were left behind.

These tours are free but reservations were required. The limit per tour is twenty people. Tours last from 7:30pm to 10:15pm.

Fort Larned National Historic Site is located west of Larned on Kansas Highway 156. The fort is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information on the fort please visit www.nps.gov/fols, or call 620-285-6911.
