2016 Homecoming: Welcome To Tiger Town

It’s homecoming season and Fort Hays wants all students to be a part of the experience.

Greek Life is hosting the Tiger Bonfire for Homecoming this week. The Bonfire will be September 29th at 7:00 pm at the Robinson Center. There will be a smores bar, people collecting food for the Tiger Food Pantry, and a Snake Dance. The purpose of the Snake Dance is to pick up students to take them to homecoming. They’ll pick people up at Stadium Place and McMindes.

There will be more events than just those in the following week:

  • On September 29th there is a Golf tournament at the Smokey Hill Country Club located at 3303 Hall Street. Registration is from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
  • The Dane G. Hansen Entrepreneurial Hall dedication is at 8:30 am at the Dane G. Hansen Scholarship Hall.
  • The 100-year Alumni Celebration and “Journey” has an unveiling at 10:00 am in the Memorial Union, celebrating one hundred years of alumni.
  • Oktoberfest is at 11:00 am to 7:00 pm at Frontier Park and pays homage to many German activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

On October 1st there are many exciting events such as:

  • The 5K run. Registration is from 6:30 am to 7:30 am at the Robbins Center.
  • The Homecoming parade is at 10:00 am in Downtown Hays. There will be lots of bands and floats from around the community.

There are lots of things students can participate in regarding Oktoberfest and should be able to remain safe. Safe Ride is always available if students need a lift anywhere.
