Men’s Golf Ranked Eleventh in Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fort Hays State University men’s golf team was ranked 11th in the 2016 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, released Wednesday morning (Aug. 31) by the conference office. The Tigers received 13 points in the voting process.

Central Missouri was picked to finish first, earning 98 total points after picking up eight first-place votes. Lindenwood was selected second, earning one first-place vote and 91 points. Central Oklahoma was listed atop the final two ballots, earning 83 points to finish third.

The nine-man squad is comprised of seven returners and two new golfers. Among those returning are Lane Pauls, Cash Hobson, Seve Sites and Jake Weller. Pauls, a senior, finished second individually at the MIAA Championships. Hobson qualified for all nine events last season as a freshman. Sites and Weller both competed in five events last season.

The Tigers will open the season on September 12-13 when they travel to Axtell, Neb. for the UNK Invitational, one of the four MIAA events this season.
