Several FHSU Men Hit Provisional Marks at Sam Williams Twilight Meet

EMPORIA, Kan. – Fort Hays State had four members of its men’s track and field team post provisional marks at the Sam Williams Twilight Qualifier meet on Saturday (May 14). Reaching the provisional marks were Brett Meyer, Jake Morrow, TJ Dozier, and Brenner Wells.

Meyer ran a time of 1:51.52 in the 800 meter run, his best time of the season in the event. He moved up to 36th on the national performance list with the time.

Morrow reached a height of 15 feet, 9.75 inches in the pole vault, but it was shy of his best mark this season. Morrow’s best mark during the outdoor season is 16 feet, 0.75 inches. He ranks 28th on the national performance list.

Dozier was also a little shy of his best effort of the season in the discus. He threw 164 feet, 8 inches on Saturday, but his best effort is 166 feet, 1 inch. He ranks 28th on the national performance list.

Wells threw 192 feet, 9 inches in the javelin throw. His best effort of the spring is 199 feet, 4 inches. Wells ranks 26th on the national performance list.

Others with provisional marks this outdoor season include Michael Kinuthia in the 800 meters (1:51.84) and Kolt Newell in the high jump (6 feet, 9.5 inches). Kinuthia ranks 40th and Newell ranks 25th.

On the women’s side, the Tigers for sure have two athletes that will compete at the NCAA Championships. Javelin throwers Estefania Lopez and Madison Wolf have posted automatic marks and will compete for the national title in Florida. Other provisional marks by the FHSU women this year include Scout Wiebe (30th, 141 feet, 11 inches) and Shannon Toll (132 feet, 5 inches) in the javelin, and Micki Krzesinski (44th, 36:33.04) in the 10,000 meters.
