DES MOINES, Iowa – Fort Hays State javelin throwers Estefania Lopez, Madison Wolf, and Brenner Wells competed at the Drake Relays on Friday (Apr. 29). Lopez finished second and Wolf was eighth in the women’s competition while Wells took 11th in the men’s competition.
Lopez threw 162 feet, 6 inches to finish behind Sierra Rosenau of North Dakota State, who won the event at 165 feet, 4 inches. Wolf threw 148 feet, 2 inches. Lopez and Rosenau were the only two women to throw over 160 feet at the meet. Wells threw 193 feet, 4 inches in the men’s competition. None of the marks topped season bests for the athletes.
Lopez and Wolf rank second and fourth on the women’s national performance list, both with throws over 170 feet this year while Wells ranks 25th on the men’s national performance list.
