IFC Hosts 8th Annual Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes Event

The Interfraternity Council at Fort Hays State University will host its 8th Annual Walk-a-Mile in Her Shoes event Monday, April 25th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on the Memorial Union Patio.

The purpose of this philanthropy event is to spread awareness and collect funds to support victims of gender-based violence. Fort Hays students and faculty, as well as Hays community members are invited to come and support the cause.

The event will include speakers from various organizations providing information on resources the Hays area has to offer victims of gender-based violence. Following the speakers, participants will take part in a mile-long walk while wearing high heels.

All proceeds from this event will go towards Options Domestic and Sexual Violence Services and Jana’s Campaign, which are both organizations that work towards providing help to victims of sexual assault and gender-based violence.

IFC continues to host this event each year because they feel it is important to not only raise money for the victims, but to also help raise awareness to people all throughout Hays. It is about starting a conversation, and putting an end to relationship violence.
