Tigers Host Third Straight MIAA Weekend Series; Welcome SBU

Fort Hays State baseball takes on Southwest Baptist in a three-game series Friday through Sunday (Mar. 11-13). The Tigers enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-8, 3-3 in the MIAA. The Bearcats come to Hays toting an overall record of 6-9 and 1-5 MIAA mark.

The Tiger offense has been carrying the load this year as they currently sit second in the MIAA with a team batting average of .323. Leading the offense for Fort Hays State is Alex Weiss, who leads the conference in hits (31) and sits second in batting average by hitting .456 thus far.

The Tiger base running scheme has also played a larger role this season. The Tigers have combined for 25 steals already this season, after recording just 63 all of last season. Ty Redington is the main threat on the bags for the Tigers, who sits tied atop the MIAA leaderboard with 11 steals.

The Bearcats have also excelled offensively this season by hitting .320 collectively, with seven everyday players hitting over .300. The Bearcat pitching staff, however, has shown command issues all season long and leads the MIAA in walks with 78 as a team.
