Lawrence Busker Festival returns for 9th Weird Year

buskerfest2016The Freaks, Geeks, Oddballs, and Fools will be back in full force as the Busker Festival returns to downtown Lawrence, KS for it’s 9th year. It will be the festival’s 9th year of bringing the weird and wonderful world of street performing to the streets of Lawrence, KS.

Lawrence Busker Festival showcases over 20 jaw-dropping acts on the downtown streets of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Buskers, incredible street performers, will do their best to shock and awe in almost every nook and cranny of downtown Lawrence. Sword Swallowers, Flaming Jugglers, Acrobatic Dancers, and Fire Eaters have blown audiences away in the past, and this year looks to be no different. This year’s artist lineup includes a lot of new acts coming for the first time to Lawrence. While these acts have performed all over the world as buskers it is their first time in the middle of America.

Once again we will be partnering with the always weird and imaginatively unique Art Tougeau Art Car Parade. The outrageous automotive creations go well with the oddball performers in the Busker Festival. That weekend may be the only place in the world where you will see a fire breathing dragon car and a fire-eating busker performer in the same place. The Art Tougeau party kicks off on Friday night with the cars on display and culminates in a parade through downtown Lawrence on Saturday.

Our buskers will be coming from all over the world to show off their own unique skills and creativity too. This year we will feature several new acts like Adorkable Derek, who performs silently as a nerd who must impress the love of his life with his circus skills. Audiences will also welcome back Jonathan Burns, the Contortionistic Comedian, who brings his flexy skills to create unusual tricks like toilet lid escapes and taking off  his underwear without removing is pants. Equally amazing is Pogo Fred who holds multiple Guinness World Records for acrobatic pogo tricks. He’ll bring all his world record skills and super powered pogo sticks to the streets of Lawrence this year.
