UAB Hosts DJ Demers

On Thursday, January 28th at 7:30 pm in Cody Commons, the University Activities Board is hosting award-winning stand-up comedian, DJ Demers. DJ has performed standup on Conan and won the 2014 Homegrown Comics Competition at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. He was then asked to perform at the first ever TV taping of the festival.

DJ wears hearing aids, but he hasn’t let that stop him from becoming one of the top comedians of his generation.

Additionally, he was a featured performer at Toronto’s JFL42 comedy festival in 2014, won the 2013 Toronto Comedy Brawl, was a finalist in NBC’s Stand-Up for Diversity, and won ‘best breakout artist’ at the 2015 Canadian Comedy Awards. He also has appeared  on CMC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud and The Debaters as well as performing in the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Hubcap Comedy Festival.

“UAB saw D.J. Demers at our regional conference this past Fall semester and our entire executive board knew we had to bring him to campus.  With D.J., you leave the event with more than laughs, he teaches you that even if you have a “disability” it doesn’t mean that it has to hinder your life,” says Matt Kaiser, President of University Activities Board.
