The Fort Hays State volleyball team looks to stay hot this weekend with two MIAA matches at home. The first match is against Missouri Western on Friday (Nov. 6) at 7 pm and the second will be on Saturday (Nov. 6) against Northwest Missouri State at 2 pm. The Tigers enter the weekend having won their last five matches and hold a record of 18-11 overall and 7-7 in the MIAA.

With the MIAA tournament rapidly approaching the Tigers are currently in seventh place in the MIAA standings. The top eight teams will qualify for the tournament.

Crystal Whitten leads the Tigers with 359 kills, good for seventh in the MIAA, and Mallory Flagor is not far behind with 345 kills. Last week Flagor became just the eighth player in Fort Hays State history to reach 1,000 career kills. Helping Whitten and Flagor is Fort Hays State setter Hannah Wagy, who leads the MIAA in total assists having set up teammates 1127 times this season.

The Griffons of Missouri Western come to Hays with a 19-6 overall record and 10-3 MIAA mark, which has them in a tie with Central Missouri for fourth place in the conference standings. Jessie Thorup is third in the MIAA in kills per set averaging 3.82.

Northwest Missouri State currently owns a 15-8 overall record and 8-5 MIAA record. The Bearcats are sitting in sixth place in the MIAA, one spot in front of the Tigers. The offensive presence on the court for the Bearcats is Maddy Bruder, who is fifth in the MIAA in kills per set (3.65).
