Locally Global celebrates Hays’ diversity with cultural foods, performances

Diversity in Hays will be celebrated at Locally Global, a cultural festival hosted by Fort Hays State University’s Issues and Applications in Communication class and the International Student Union, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in the Memorial Union’s Fort Hays Ballroom. This free cultural celebration is open to all community members.

Locally Global will deepen the connections between international students and the local community. FHSU, Hays High School and Thomas More Prep-Marian High School students from more than 12 countries will present cultural foods and performances. Countries include China, Germany, Nepal, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and more.

Participants will be able to enjoy international recipes, which, with personal comments from the international participants, will be compiled into a cookbook. Access to the cookbook can be obtained at the event. FHSU President Mirta Martin’s recipe for Cuban flan will be featured.
