Tiger men turn in three provisional marks at Nebraska and K-State meets

Fort Hays State University men’s track and field posted three provisional qualifying marks on Friday as distance runners competed at the University of Nebraska and the rest of the squad competed at Kansas State.At the Nebraska Tune-Up, the Tigers gained two provisional marks. Michael Kinuthia ran 1:52.77 in the 800 meters to gain a provisional qualifying mark, which ranks 29th nationally. He finished second in the race by just 0.14 seconds. He then joined Dillando Allotey, Paul Cuellar, and Cory Keehn for the distance medley and the team set a provisional time of 10:06.93 to rank 26th nationally. The team finished second in the race by just 0.35 seconds. Keehn now has four provisional marks this season, three in individual events and one as a member of a team.At the Kansas State Open, Jake Morrow had a provisional qualifying mark in the pole vault with a height of 15’7″. The height ranks 26th nationally. The Tigers were just shy of three more provisional marks. Rodrigo Alves finished second in the 60 meters in 6.95 seconds, just .06 seconds shy of the provisional mark he already set this season. Jordan Carroll was a little shy of a provisional mark in the triple jump with a distance of 46’0.75″ to finish second in the event. Nate Simpson was about four-tenths of a second shy of a provisional in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.65 seconds, finishing third in the event.

FHSU now turns its focus to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships next weekend  at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
