Baseball opens season at home with Colorado Mines and Regis

Fort Hays State University baseball opens the 2015 season on Friday when hosts Colorado Mines at Larks Park in Hays. Game time is set for 1 p.m. Fans will get to see a pair of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools battle against a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools over the weekend, as Central Oklahoma from the MIAA and Regis from the RMAC also compete. Action begins at 1 pm on Friday with FHSU taking on Colorado Mines, followed by UCO and Regis at 4 pm.On Saturday, the opponents reverse as Fort Hays State plays Regis at 1 pm and Central Oklahoma plays Colorado Mines at 4 pm. Sunday’s match-ups are the same as Friday, but the times are changed with UCO taking on Regis at 1 pm and FHSU taking on Colorado Mines at 4 pm.

The Tigers are looking to put a disappointing 2014 season behind them, when they went 17-29 overall. Following the three games at home this weekend, FHSU jumps right into MIAA play, heading to Central Missouri next weekend. FHSU is the only one of the four teams playing this weekend at Larks Park that has not played any games this season. Central Oklahoma is 0-3 overall, Colorado Mines is 3-0, and Regis is 2-1.
