Lehman still on top; named MIAA Athlete of the Week for third straight week

For the third week in a row and seventh time this season, Fort Hays State University’s Kate Lehman has been named the
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Assocaiton Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week following her performance in two home wins for the Tigers last
week. The award was announced Monday by the league office.
Lehman averaged a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds while adding 4.5 blocks per game in wins over
rivals Nebraska-Kearney and No. 6 Emporia State to help third-ranked FHSU set a new single-season school
record for consecutive wins (21). She scored 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds with 5 blocked shots in a
69-52 win over Nebraska-Kearney (her second 15-15 effort of the season), and followed that with a 17 point,
nine rebound and four blocked shot effort against ESU (72-62) – helping the Tigers complete the regular season
sweep.

Lehman has now been named the MIAA Athlete of the Week 15 times in her career, and ranks in the Top 3 of
FHSU’s career scoring and rebounding lists. The Tigers are back in action this Saturday against No.
10 Pittsburg State, on the road.
