FHSU professor featured in ‘Panel of Experts’ for a nationwide study

adam_holden(1)Fort Hays State University Professor and Chair of the Department of Teacher Education Adam Holden was featured in a ‘panel of experts’ in an article covering a nationwide study.

The article titled, “2014’s Best and Worst States for Teachers,” discusses data and professional commentary on a study covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Holden and a list of other experts commentary were featured in the article alongside the data used to create a ranked list of states where opportunity and other factors for teachers is better or worse.

The experts on the panel based their commentary off of the following questions.

  1. What are the biggest issues that teachers face today?
  2. How can local officials make their states more attractive to the best teachers?
  3. Are unions beneficial to teachers? what about to students?
  4. What tips can you offer young teachers looking for a place to settle?

Holdens portion of the study was the first on a list of 13 experts from prestigious institutes such as; the Association of American Educators, the School Superintendents Association. As well as Universities from across the entire country.

The ranked list created by the study based its rankings upon the following factors; opportunity and competition, and work environment.
