CrossPoint Hays Church and Christian Challenge will be hosting a movie night beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, in the Beach Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the Fort Hays State University campus.
The featured film, “God’s Not Dead,” chronicles college student Josh Wheaton’s journey towards upholding his Christian faith against his philosophy professor Jeffrey Radisson’s mandated declaration and belief that “God is dead.”
Carin Cochran, director of Christian Challenge, is proud of being able to offer the opportunity of hosting the film, along with having the opportunity of working alongside CrossPoint Church.
“We thought this was a great movie to show because it is set on a college campus and deals with some of the issues that college students face today,” Cochran said. “It addresses faith and some of the struggles that students may deal with.”
Students, as well as the Hays community, are encouraged to attend the free movie event.
“This is a free showing and everyone is welcome attend,” Cochran said. “We want to invite all FHSU students as well as the Hays community to come out and enjoy a good movie.”
Both organizations have previously cooperated in the past in order to provide opportunities to students, organize events, and diversify faith principles on campus.
“Christian Challenge and CrossPoint work together on many projects and we are co-sponsoring this movie in order to offer it both to FHSU students and the community of Hays,” Cochran said. “We have taken on different aspects of outreach and responsibilities to put it on, and it has been a great partnership.”
